Summary:// ABSTRACT IN SPANISH: En este artículo se realiza una estimación de los efectos del incremento del salario mínimo interprofesional en el empleo de los trabajadores inmigrantes en España. Se trata de una investigación novedosa en ese país que aprovecha, por una parte, el espectacular aumento de la población inmigrante acontecido en España durante el pasado decenio y, por otra, el aumento extraordinario del salario mínimo interprofesional que se inició desde 2004. Entre los principales resultados obtenidos se ha detectado una sensibilidad negativa del empleo de los inmigrantes a los cambios en diferentes índices de salarios mínimos. No obstante, los efectos difieren según el género del trabajador y su lugar de procedencia. ABEN: This paper examines the effects of the minimum wages on the employment of immigrants in Spain. This is a novel research that takes into consideration two important facts. First, the considerable increase in the immigrant population occurring in Spain during the last decade and, second, the extraordinary rise in the minimum wage that has been taking place since 2004. An important result is the negative sensitivity of immigrant employment to changes in the minimum wage. Nevertheless, these effects differ according to the immigrants' sex and their geographical origin.
