Summary: | We estimated the photoconduction characteristics of some cells made in our laboratory from monomeric metal/salt phthalocyanines (Pc's) and dibromoanthrone (DBA). Measurements were made at atmospheric pressure and room temperature for the following samples: LiPc, PbPc, and AlClPc compactions; DBA surface and sandwich cells; and FePc, PbPc, and AlClPc sandwich cells. Measurements were also made for the AlClPc sandwich cell under vacuum. Complementary steady-state and chopped-light techniques enabled estimation of the nature (whether Ohmic or first-order), size, speed, and lifetimes of photoresponses. An absorption spectrum and action spectrum (wavelength dependence of the steady-state photocurrent) were measured for the AlClPc sandwich cell. These preliminary data provide examples of photoconduction properties that one could expect if one chose to use any of these compounds. |
