Summary:The work done by the Technical Crisis Center at the Institute of Problems in the Safe Development of Nuclear Energy of the Russian Academy of Sciences on providing scientific-technical support to the National Control Center for Crisis Situations of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations and Crisis Situation Center at Rosatom during the first few days and subsequent period after the accident at the Fukushima-1 NPP in Japan in March 2011 is described. The results of computer calculations of possible development of the situation in the power-generating units of the damaged NPP, predictions of the dynamics of the change of the radiation conditions near and at large distances from the NPP, right up to the Far East territory of our country as well estimates of the irradiation dose to the population are presented.
