A comment on DEA efficiency assessment using ideal and anti-ideal decision making units

One of the main objectives of data envelopment analysis (DEA) is the relative efficiency assessment for a set of decision making units (DMUs). This paper concentrates on a previously reported DEA efficiency assessment method developed by Wang and Luo [Y.M. Wang, Y. Luo, DEA efficiency assessment usi...

Description
Summary:One of the main objectives of data envelopment analysis (DEA) is the relative efficiency assessment for a set of decision making units (DMUs). This paper concentrates on a previously reported DEA efficiency assessment method developed by Wang and Luo [Y.M. Wang, Y. Luo, DEA efficiency assessment using ideal and anti-ideal decision making units, Applied Mathematics and Computation 173 (2006) 902-915] and later improved by Wu [D. Wu, A note on DEA efficiency assessment using ideal point: An improvement of Wang and Luo's model, Applied Mathematics and Computation 183 (2006) 819-830]. A discussion is made about Wu's argument and improvement of Wang and Luo's model after a revisit to the previous two works. A supplementary investigation of Wang and Luo's model is provided and a rescaled model is proposed to handle the problems involved in their model. Theoretical analysis and numerical illustrations demonstrate that it should be reassuring to apply Wang and Luo's model for overall DEA efficiency assessment and ranking.
