Synthesis of Nickel Oxide Nanoparticles from Thermal Decomposition of a New Precursor

Nickel oxide nanoparticles (25 nm) have been synthesized via decomposition of a new precursor nickel octanoate Ni(octa) 2 in the presence of oleylamine (C 18 H 37 N) and triphenylphosphine (C 18 H 15 P), in mild conditions. To control the particle size and morphology, combination of C 18 H 15 P and...

Description
Summary:Nickel oxide nanoparticles (25 nm) have been synthesized via decomposition of a new precursor nickel octanoate Ni(octa) 2 in the presence of oleylamine (C 18 H 37 N) and triphenylphosphine (C 18 H 15 P), in mild conditions. To control the particle size and morphology, combination of C 18 H 15 P and C 18 H 37 N were applied as surfactants. In this process, oleylamine was used as both the medium and the stabilizing reagent. C 18 H 37 N and C 18 H 15 P play an important role in preventing aggregation of NiO nanoparticles. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, FT–IR, and TGA.
