Description
Summary:Primary Repair of Cecal Perforation from Acute Appendicitis: An Operative Dilemma A 25-year-old man presented to the emergency department with a 5-day history of severe right lower quadrant abdominal pain. Wong and Naqvi recently reported primary closure of a cecal perforation using absorbable sutures reinforced with an omental patch.4We now confirm that a cecal repair for a small perforation in the setting of acute perforated appendicitis, even in the setting of adjacent inflammation and peritonitis, can be done safely and effectively in a select patient.
