A Simple Technique for Measuring the Textural Properties of Carpets

A method described by the first author for measuring the specific volume of a yarn by a bead-displacement technique has been adapted for measuring the volume of void space in a carpet pile, and so for obtaining an objective measurement of the texture of the pile.
