Cohesion Phenomena in Cotton Rovings and Yarns: Part III: Influence of Fiber Characteristics on the Cohesion of Nontwisted Slivers
Experiments carried out with cottons of lengths ranging from 15/ 16 m. to 1/1 8 m. and Micronaire index from 3.1 to 5.5 showed that mmimum twist of cohesion increases with the Micronaire index of the fiber and the hank of the shver and decreases with the length of the fiber. Corley's formula fo...

Summary: | Experiments carried out with cottons of lengths ranging from 15/ 16 m. to 1/1 8 m. and Micronaire index from 3.1 to 5.5 showed that mmimum twist of cohesion increases with the Micronaire index of the fiber and the hank of the shver and decreases with the length of the fiber. Corley's formula for sliver twist can be applied to the calculation of mmununt twist of cohesion by varying only the constant. The arrangement and the decree of parallelism of the fibers in the sliver influence the mimmum twist of cohesion, which increases as the disorder of the fibers in the sliver increases. |
