Summary:Violence has reached frightening levels in the world. When we talk about Brazil, the numbers are too high, and this phenomenon has invaded school environment. Reflection of social reality of today's students, there is an increasing number of occurrences of violence in school nationwide. In this sense the aim of this study was to assess public school teachers' perception in the city of Montes Claros-MG about the topic violence. Descriptive study with qualitative approach. The sample consisted of 14 teachers and as instrument of data collection was used a questionnaire adapted. The data were interpreted by simple frequency and content analysis. From the data obtained we can conclude that in the view of teachers, violence and conflicts are present in significant numbers among students, and the researched school needs actions that bring parents and the community as partners in actions against violence.
