Description
Summary:Six years ago Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, implemented a focused program commitment process for American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma verification of a statedesignated Level I trauma center. Financial studies on the interdependent relationship between hospital-based orthopedic traumatologists and facility charges and revenues confirm a net revenue multiplier effect between orthopedic care and the hospital side of the ledger.2 Orthopedic trauma surgeons may therefore generate hospital revenues at a multiplier rate of seven times their own collection rates, enhanced by busy operating schedules.
