Summary:The objective of this work is to present, by means of bibliographical research, a story on the importance of water rationing by its reuse, to describe the water global cycle and quantifying the most important reservoirs on Earth. To identify potentially polluting sources of water resources and to present critical aspects on water availability and consumption around the world and also to mention technologies applied in the treatment of wastewater for further reuse. In this direction, are presented direct an indirect forms of reuse, planned reuse and recycling of wastewater applied to sectors like industry, agriculture, buildings, water-bearing recharge and urban uses for human consumption.
