Summary:It is now over 40 years since the brief but bloody war which ended with the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971. However, there are huge protests in Bangladesh over the failure of the International Crimes Tribunal to pass death sentences on Abdel Qader Mollah and other convicted war criminals; Pakistan has never accepted responsibility for the genocidal war crimes it committed, and many of the guilty have not even been prosecuted.
