Summary: | An investigation was carried out into the adsorption of tetravalent thorium from aqueous solutions using silk fibroin from the Bombyx mori silkworm. The adsorption was carried out on a known weight of the silk fibroin using a batch technique and equilibration with the thorium solution. The effects of solution pH, thorium concentration, silk fibroin weight, solution volume, detention period and temperature on the adsorption process were studied, as was the influence of hexavalent uranium, trivalent cerium, divalent strontium and trivalent iron ions on the adsorption of the thorium. |
