Summary: | Details are given of procedure for spectrophotometric determination of traces of hexavalent chromium, involving on-line separation and pre-concentration of the chromium at pH 3 in a microcolumn packed with zirconium oxide coated on a silica-gel surface inserted into a flow-injection system. A chromium concentration of 2 ppb could be detected, with a relative standard deviation of 2.4 per cent. The immobilized zirconium oxide showed high selectivity, making it possible to determine chromium in the presence of greater amounts of other ions. |
