Summary:Teen Voices/Teen Choices, a prevention program aimed at reducing myths among adolescents concerning teenage pregnancy, was developed by nonprofit executive directors of parent-child centers in the US and is funded by the local parent-child center. The Parent-Child Center (PCC) is a community based, nonprofit agency that works to prevent child maltreatment and teenage pregnancy. Relevant to this particular study is the established program called "Teen Voiced Teen Choices," in which former teenage parent clients of PCC become peer educators to other teenagers. The purpose of the current research was to examine whether adolescent perceptions of teenage pregnancy change from a one-session program intervention of having teenage mothers discuss their pregnancy, labor, and parenting experiences with adolescents attending public school. It was predicted that adolescents would understand the challenges of teenage pregnancy, including learning the fallacy of myths surrounding teenage pregnancy. Adapted from the source document.
