Description
Summary:This article describes an experience involving the teaching and learning of vocabulary and the use of tables for organizing information, in a sample of pre-school children who are learning to read and write. The experience was conducted in an infant school in Barcelona (Spain) as part of a program for promoting innovation in the teaching of reading and writing. The teacher took part in the planning of the sessions and was in charge of the teaching activities. The key feature of the experiment is the reciprocal relationship between the learning of vocabulary and literacy. We highlight the value of the use of tables to help children understand the semantic relationships between the words. Adapted from the source document
