Summary:The sorption properties of a new heterochain polymeric sorbent (HCPS)-aminocarboxylic polymer, known as POLAC-1, were investigated for its use in concentrating trace metals from natural waters. The characteristics of POLAC-1 were compared with Dowex A-1 and Chelex-100 making it possible to reduce column dimensions, improve solution throughput rate and improve the concentration factors reached.
