Summary:Results are presented and discussed from studies to ascertain the modes of action of various concentrations of tributyltin oxide against an isolate of Legionella pneumophila. The bacteriostatic and bactericidal mechanisms appeared to be different, and it was concluded that a relatively high dose of the biocide would be necessary for complete elimination of Legionella from water.
