Summary: | Our study retrospectively evaluates and compares the characteristics of lung and liver hydatid disease (HD) in children. This retrospective study was performed between 2007 and 2012 using the medical records of patients aged ≤17 years of age who had liver and/or lung HD. They were evaluated using the demographic characteristics of the patients, clinical presentation, hospital stay and outcome. A total of 252 cysts were identified in 152 of the patients. The incidence of HD increased with age and the majority of patients were older than 9 years. Overall, lung HD was more complicated and symptomatic than liver HD on initial admission. |
