Description
Summary:The fate and persistence of photodieldrin, the terminal residue of photoaldrin and dieldrin, in the environment are considered. Results of experiments concerning the persistence of photodieldrin on bean leaves under laboratory light and sunlight are presented. Loss of photodieldrin from the bean leaf surface in the laboratory and in sunlight was about 50% in one day and 85-90% in eight days. The persistence of photodieldrin in algae is discussed. Continued research into photodieldrin persistence in the environment will help to define any ecological hazards it may present.
