Description
Summary:Described is an isolating technique for aza-arenes, which are found in the BASIC fraction of new York City's suspended particulate matter, by using extraction, solvent partitioning, and a sequence of chromatographic separations. The approach leads to the unambiguous identification of more than 20 aza-arenes and other nitrogen-bases previously unidentified. An unanticipated abundance of quinolines, isoquinolines, and their alkyl derivatives in the fraction is also shown.
