Decontaminating Lake Superior of asbestos fibers

Experiments have shown that asbestiform fibres can be removed from lake Superior water by coagulation with a cationic polyelectrolyte to neutralize the charge on the suspended fibres, which then aggregate on the long-chain polymer and can be removed by diatomaceous-earth filtration.
