Description
Summary:The behavior of carbon-14-dieldrin (HEOD) in terrestrial microcosm chambers (tmc's) was monitored and compared with findings in the natural environment to determine tmc reliability and accuracy. The average rate of heod accountability in the three tmc's tested was 89%; average carbon-14 residue measurements were 55% for soil, 30% for plants, and 1.5% for fauna. Residue figures from the tmc's coincided with residues found after heod applications in the natural environment. The effects of heod application on organisms in the tmc were also studied, but the lack of comparative data prevent the use of such measurements in assessing tmc reliability.
