Summary: | Four different types of experiments describing oxygen isotope analyses of field samples of atmospheric sulfates are discussed. Oxygen 18 analyses on consecutive, continuously collected seven day samples of sulfate and water vapor were made. Analyses were also made on rain and snow during the same period. The mechanisms of sulfate formation are not identical throughout the year, but another mechanism appears to dominate in the formation of aerosol sulfate during the late spring. |
