Summary:Several shrimps were obtained during recent collections from Sind and Baluchistan coasts (1981-82); among these two species are of particular interst: Hippolyte ventricosa H. Milne Edwards, 1837 that represents the first record of this species from the Arabian Sea, and Palaemon pacificus (Stimpson, 1860) for showing considerable variation in the rostral formula and the mandibles. H. ventricosa is briefly described and variation of the rostral formula is noted in both species, variations in the mandibles of P. pacificus are also pointed out. The abbreviation cl+r is used for carapace length including rostrum.
