Description
Summary:Because of heightened interest in using the inherent productivity of impoundments for waterfowl habitat enhancement and aquaculture, several permit applications have been submitted to regulatory agencies to reimpound formerly impounded areas. The Coastal Wetland Impoundment Project, initiated in September, 1982, was developed to investigate the ecology, public policy and management of coastal impoundments. This 12-task multidisciplinary effort has been geared to fill many of the information gaps hindering decision makers. However, resolution of these issues will require additional research on a range of impoundment systems.
