Mortality of Wild Turkey Poults in Northern Alabama

Recent reports of wild turkey (Meleagris galopavo ) poult mortality indicate substantial losses at an early age (Glidden and Austin 1975, Everett et al. 1980, Speake 1980). Two Alabama studies, recently completed, confirm this high rate of mortality and provide evidence of its causes.
