Description
Summary:The presence and relative concentrations of 74 PCB congeners in water and caddisfly larvae collected from three sites in the Hudson River were documented. Mean concentrations in water of the major congeners are tabulated. The concentration of the lower chlorinated congeners are much enhanced in water compared with the mixture of aroclors 1221, 1016, and 1260. Variations in PCB concentrations between collection sites are discussed. The caddisfly species hydropsyche leonardi was found to be an excellent indicator of PCB contamination and accumulation.
