Summary: | The source of polychorinated biphenyl contamination in commercially reared turkeys was determined in a field study. Samples of turkey tissue and building materials were collected from the farm. The positive samples corresponded to turkey tissue and a vapor seal/insulation containing over 500 ppm PCB. The PCBs identified in the turkey tissue samples were likely to be derived from the vapor seal. Replacement of the old vapor seal alleviated the turkey contamination problem. |
