Description
Summary:Concentrations of N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) were determined in mixtures of nitrogen fertilizers and herbicides present as the corresponding diethylamine salts. No NDMA was detected in fertilizers before they were mixed with herbicides. NDMA levels in mixtures of fertilizers and 2,4-D herbicide present as dimethylamine salt stored at room temperature for 7-10 d were within the analytical variation of that originally occurring in the herbicide. Therefore, mixtures of various fertilizers and 2,4-D/diethylamine salt do not generate any significant additional NDMA.
