Summary: | As part of the continuing radiometric survey of the environment of Bangladesh, a programme was undertaken to measure the gamma ray field in the beach sand mineral processing pilot plant at Cox's Bazar in order to provide appropriate guidelines for radiation protection and safety of the works and the members of the public in the vicinity. The radiation levels were measured at various locations in and around the area of the plant using LiF (TLD-700) dosemeters. The observed dose rates varied from 0.20 to 8.12 µSv.h-1, however, the dose rates in most of the working areas were less than 3.0 µSv.h-1 resulting in an annual exposure of 7.48 mSv or less. |
