Summary:The existing urban development characteristics and climatic requirements associated with the revised planning code for the municipality of Vicente Lopez in the Buenos Aires metropolitan area of Argentina are reviewed. Limited opportunities are available for urban planning decisions in response to climatic requirements, because of extensive existing urban development, land subdivisions, and strong real estate pressures. Climate-conscious planning and design measures were incorporated in the new urban code to promote improved microclimatic and environmental conditions.
