We would like to congratulate Cabal et al1 on their article and their suggestion that the benefits of pancuronium in ventilated neonates might be outweighed by its possible risks.
We have been bothered by the many reports in the literature that recommend such use of pancuronium. The finding of Cabal et al that pancuronium did not increase the TcPo2 is in contrast to prior reports2 and should be emphasized, because the improvement in Po2 is cited as the criteria for the success of the drug.3 |
