Summary:Wyant revies Office of Immigration Statistics, an Internet resource available at www.dhs.gov/office-immigration-statistics. The Office of Immigration Statistics website offers comprehensive information about immigration to the US. Navigation to the Office of Immigration Statistics is available via the Department of Homeland Security's website. Information is maintained in two separate sections, Immigration Statistics and Immigration Statistics Publications. The Immigration Statistics section contains four separate areas; the yearbook of immigration statistics, profiles on legal permanent residents, profiles of naturalized citizens, and mapping immigration. The Yearbook of Immigration Statistics contains data from 1996-2011. The data collected since 2004, however, is more user friendly and is compiled in a single report covering many aspects of immigration to the US. Additionally, the data from 2004 onward have smaller specialty reports that further explain immigration data. All years (1996-2011) have data files available in Microsoft Excel which allows researchers to easily export data to programs such as IMB's SPSS for analysis.
