Summary: | 'Global Mindset' is an individual's capability to influence others unlike themselves. This definition of what it is emerged from our lengthy and ongoing research program, which we will describe. We present two approaches for how to develop Global Mindset. One is to 'find' it in individuals with attributes associated with it, e.g. certain demographics and educational backgrounds, as well as in companies and industries with attributes likely to foster it, e.g. differing sizes and sectors. Another approach is to 'grow' it, e.g. leadership development programs and coaching. We will further elaborate what and how, but we begin by underscoring why the Global Mindset of managers matters.
