Summary: | The relationship between oral contraceptive use and the risk of breast cancer has been investigated. These studies agree that the use of oral contraceptives neither increases nor decreases the risk in women generally. Some studies do suggest an increased risk for users with a "prior" history of benign breast disease. In this paper, the authors show that an improper definition of a "prior" history of benign breast disease is probably responsible for the findings referred to above. |
