Summary: | The Assessment Protocol for Excellence in Public Health (APEX/PH) was developed by the National Association of County Health Officials to address the issue of identifying local health problems, needs, and resources for handling them. An environmental health addendum to APEX/PH is being developed to improve the needs assessment process by providing for assessment of additional indicators of environmentally related health needs. The process of developing the addendum is described, including development of the environmental issues of concern, indicators, and a prioritization scheme. Local health departments in Washington State are testing APEX/PH. |
