Evidence for ductile deformation of single-crystal magnesium oxide subjected to thermal shock

Possible evidence is presented of the ductile deformation of single-crystal magnesium oxide by the multiplication and propagation of surface dislocations by thermal stresses generated during the measurement of its wettability by liquid nickel.
