Description
Summary:Results of a monitoring program documenting organochlorine pesticide levels in beef and lamb products intended for human consumption in Baghdad, Iraq, are reported. Residues detected and confirmed in two meat lots were those of lindane, aldrin, dieldrin, heptachlor, chlordane, and isomers of DDT, DDE, and DDD. These compounds are not currently in use in Iraq in livestock production or protection. They are probably comprised in animal diets as environmental residues. ( 8 references, 1 table, )
