Summary: | Samples of Lutjanus fulviflamma and Epinephelus tauvina, two commercial fish species of the United Arab Emirates, were collected from eastern and western coastal areas of the Arabian Gulf and analyzed for concentrations of cadmium, copper, manganese, nickel, lead, and zinc in skin, muscle, and liver tissues, and mercury in muscle tissues. All analyzed elements were found to be well within acceptable limits. Generally, muscle tissue from both species exhibited markedly lower concentrations of Cd, Ni, Pb, Cu, Mn, and Zn compared with liver tissue. All metal concentration data are tabulated. |
