Summary: | Green revolution is the program that has decreased the number of starving population through the increased production of staple foods such as rice, wheat and maize which are the primary providers of macronutrients such as protein and carbohydrates. The irony of green revolution is that despite feeding more number of people, it has also resulted in terrible nutrition which is the lack of micronutrients such as iron, iodine, vitamins A and C, zinc, and other compounds. As a result, adults are weaker and sickly while children's growth is stunted. |
