Description
Summary:Pb-partitioning phenomenon was investigated in PbTiO sub(3) nanopowders produced via sol-gel processing in order to achieve highly crystalline and single phase tetragonal perovskite PbTiO sub(3) nanoparticles. The calcination conditions were selected based on the simultaneous thermal analysis of the PbTiO sub(3) gels, including complete burn out of the contained carbon and crystallization of the desired perovskite structure. X-Ray diffraction investigations confirmed key contributions of Pb stoichiometry and the gel calcination conditions to aid in improving formation of single tetragonal phase as well as avoiding formation of toxic lead compounds. Transmission electron microscopy investigations showed that well crystallized PbTiO sub(3) nanoparticles have been synthesized after calcination of the PbTiO sub(3) gel.
