Description
Summary:Many were found on apple and nectarine trees in a commercial orchard at Werribee from February to April 1981. Mites were sought fortnightly from October 1981 to April 1982, during which time the apples were sprayed with DDT, azinphos-methyl, vamidothion, propargite, cyhexatin, mancozeb and bupirimate and the nectarines were sprayed with endrin plus oil, azinphos-methyl, cyhexatin and triforine. Tetranychus urticae was found from early December 1981, but P. persimilis only from February 1982. In slide-dip tests, azinphos-methyl was as toxic to this strain of P. persimilis as to a strain from strawberries; DDT was considerably less toxic to both.
