Summary: | The knowledge bases supplied with traffic-detector data create a real-time environment for traffic-control algorithms and for the development of sophisticated traffic and air-pollution models. Here, a pro-ecological integrated traffic-control idea is developed for street canyons that addresses air-pollution control in the urban environment. The main points of the methodology are outlined, which involves a multilayer hierarchical system consisting of a planning layer and a management and control layer. A mathematical model of the street canyon is then developed, which is illustrated with 12 numerical examples. |
