Groundwater aspects: losses are inevitable but re-use is possible?

Causes of losses of water from irrigation schemes are discussed with special emphasis on losses from canals. The movement of this water through underground strata is examined and consideration is given to methods of collecting the water, using tube wells or horizontal drains, for subsequent re-use.
