Description
Summary:Samples of soil and plants were collected at different locations in Torun, Poland, yearly in March April and October November over several years, and concentrations of lead, zinc, cadmium, copper, iron, calcium, and magnesium were measured. The plant species included pine Pinus silvestris, fescue Festuca protensis, and moss Pleurozium schreberi. Highest concentrations were observed for the macroelements. The concentrations of heavy metals in the soil samples were below regulated values for agricultural soils, with concentrations lower in spring than in fall. The concentrations of heavy metals in the plant samples were within the range of values recommended by Polish standards, except for concentrations of Pb in the grass samples, and tended to mirror the concentrations found in the respective soil samples.
