Summary: | Silicon-Film super(TM) production systems, developed by AstroPower, DE, generate sheets of polycrystalline Si in a continuous in-line process, and the current system is capable of producing 15 MW of polycrystalline Si sheet annually. Recent advances in continuous rapid thermal junction diffusion and cassetteless wet chemical processing are noted. The current sheet generation system serves as the basis for an advanced single-thread production line design for manufacturing the next generation of solar cells with nominal area of 400 cm super(2). These cells are being used to design large-area modules that can generate up to 220 W. |
