Description
Summary:Findings are reported from tests in which diverse agricultural wastes were subjected to both chemical and biochemical degradation. The agricultural wastes considered in the project included pith bagasse, rice husk, and corn maize. Data are reported from experiments enacted using different acid concentrations and cellulase-producing microorganisms. Researchers implemented comparative analyses between chemical hydrolysis and enzymatic degradation for the cellulosic materials considered in the effort. Evidence indicated that the optimal concentration of HCl, which provides the highest yield of reducing sugars from the used cellulose materials, is 5%. The residue of chemical hydrolysis was identified as the best substrate for enzyme degradation.
