Description
Summary:Economic and governmental shifts in Poland that began in the early 1990s have strongly influenced the natural resources and environment, sometimes in ways that were not expected. Academic institutions in Poland have responded by offering courses in environmental sciences and natural resources management, but these courses lack attention to related social issues. Collaboration between Ohio State University and the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland, resulted in a course on Society and Natural Resources now being taught at UWM Olsztyn. These and other changes in higher education in Poland that are outgrowths of regional environmental and natural resources issues are discussed.
