Summary: | The technical and economic efficiency of two solar concentrators manufactured by gluing plane facets of thin glass onto metal radio antennae was demonstrated over 25 yr at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Merits of these devices include simplicity of fabrication, potential to achieve temperatures up to 2000 K, and attainment of a focal spot with uniform distribution of irradiation. A trapezoidal shape was determined to represent the optimum configuration for the plane facets. |
